MAY - Martina O’Brien, Cork Lady Football Captain
Martina O’Brien is a native of Ballinascarthy who plays her football with Clonakilty and camogie with Ballinascarthy. She has been the Cork footballgoalkeeper for the past seven years. Having begun her Cork career as goalkeeper in 2013, she has won four All-Ireland senior medals in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. and six national league medals. This season she was appointed captain of the Cork team for the national league and had the distinction of beating All-Ireland champions, Dublin, twice during the league. Cork went on to beat Galway in the league final, with Martina as captain.
Martina also captained the West Cork ladies senior football team this season and they reached the county final for the second year in a row but had to give way to a very strong Mourneabbey side
