Carbery Scór

‘The GAA is a community based volunteer organisation promoting Gaelic games, culture and lifelong participation.’ Scór, as an integral part of the GAA, combines the rivalry of GAA competition with the social and fun element of engaging with Irish culture, music, song, storytelling and dance, whilst supporting the Irish language.

Carbery Scór epitomises the community ethos which we all associate with the GAA. Participation is key! Every young child deserves their moment of glory on the local stage. The Carbery Scór committee endeavour to facilitate participation in Scór at all levels, Scór na bPáistí, Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsear.

2017 was a phenomenal year for CarberyScór. To have 4 Clubs from our division, Clann na nGael, Sam Maguires, Carbery Rangers and Tadhg Mac Carthaigh competing at All Ireland level, was unprecedented. To participate in such a prestigious venue as ‘The Waterfront Hall’ in Belfast was an experience our competitors will never forget and the camaraderie and friendships made around the music sessions at the hotel afterwards was a joy to be a part of.

2018 was another incredible year for Carbery Scór. Carbery Rangers wrote their Club in to the record books when they achieved an amazing and rare Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsear double All Ireland in the same season. They, along with Clann na nGael, were afforded the ultimate honour of performing in front of thousands at Croke Park.

2019 saw the ballad group from St. James go all the way to All Ireland Scór Sinsear level. Bliain iontach eile!

To be recognised by both Cork Rebel Óg and the Carbery GAA Board with monthly awards has been an important step on the road to the recognition of Scór as an intrinsic part of the GAA calendar.
